Enhancements to the Financial and Operations modules
We've made many enhancements to the usability of the software in this area, and also added much new functionality - for example:
- Credit Management Module - a host of new features will enable credit control teams to work more effectively and efficiently
- Reallocation of cash - where a customer's cheques has bounced, or payment has been allocated to the wrong invoice, you can now reallocate the cash straightforwardly
- Back to Back Orders - In Sage 1000 you can already easily create Purchase Orders directly from Sales Orders; now v2.1 gives you enormous flexibility over how individual orders are handled
- Customer Returns - enhancements to v2.1 mean you can process customer returns more efficiently

- General Ledger - the General Ledger provides a repository for company wide transactions that can be enquired upon and reported on in any number of ways. By providing the complete financial picture for your organisation, the General Ledger is not only essential to the integrated accounting system, but also to the strategic decision making of the company. It is configurable to meet the international requirements of key territories around the world. The Sage 1000 General Ledger supports sophisticated consolidation requirements allowing multiple levels of consolidations and complex mapping of multiple Charts of Accounts. Sage 1000 also supports Inter-Entity Accounting.
- Accounts Payable - Sage 1000 gives you full control over your company's cash flow and immediate access to outstanding creditor information. The system provides flexible authorisation control to meet the requirements of your own business processes. This can either be utilised in conjunction with Purchase Order Processing with full invoice matching, or on a stand-alone basis. Flexible and secure payment methods are supported with full integration to Cash Management for reconciliation purposes. The system can handle both simple and complex foreign transactions.
- Accounts Receivable - Sage 1000 provides you with effective debt management, ensuring that cash flow is optimised and that your company's overall balance sheet remains healthy. It provides all the necessary information to make accurate and timely decisions. Complex hierarchies of customer accounts can be accommodated if required.
- Cash Management - the system allows you to monitor cash flow accurately and make informed decisions about immediate expenditure. Cash Management allows you to record comprehensive details for all types of bank account with the ability to specify how each one is integrated with the General Ledger. The module also has the ability to cope with multi-currency and provides currency revaluation facilities to ease exchange difference exposure. Automatic and manual tools for bank reconciliation are provided, allowing you to keep a consistent view of your finances with your bank.
- Credit Management - Sage 1000 provides a centralised credit control function with an integrated transaction enquiry and call logging process. Full diary management is supported with automated target call lists by credit controller. Call logging supports entry of free-format text, cheque promise dates, ad-hoc generation of statements and reminder letters, along with simple cash flow forecasting.
- BACS and International Payments - using BACS Sage 1000 can integrate automatically with the external banking community, saving time for both you and your payees. Full security is maintained including the support of passwords by BACSAFE or those issued by your bank.
Output formats can be defined to support international requirements, including the facility to split a single payment run into multiple output formats.
- Fixed Assets - provides you with control over your assets and their depreciation. It can be used individually or as part of the procurement process with full integration to the General Ledger. You can record comprehensive information for each asset, including any associated attachments to assist the management and tracking of these assets. The system has flexible depreciation methods to meet the requirements of both the commercial and public sectors.
- Absorption Costing - Sage 1000 allows organisations to maintain both budgetary and actual period-based statistics, which can then be used as part of an absorption costing process. Users are able to create an unlimited number of statistical sets such as headcount or floor space, which can be configured to cross-reference each other and create service-level recharges across internal departments.
- Payroll - Sage 1000 allows you to accurately and quickly calculate large volumes of payroll data whilst providing full compliance with all statutory requirements. Built-in security ensures that confidential information is protected from unauthorised users. The payroll system supports requirements for larger businesses such as multiple payrolls within a single company.

- Purchasing Operations - you can configure the Purchase Requisition authorisation rules to support your purchasing hierarchy. By consolidating multiple requisitions for the same supplier into a single purchase order, you gain opportunities for economies of scale. Purchasing commitment is tracked through to the General Ledger, and real-time budget consumption is built into the authorisation process - so you avoid the risk of over-spending.
- Inventory Control - by maximising the efficiency of your stock and depot resources, Sage 1000 helps you deliver maximum customer service at an acceptable cost. It offers real-time multisite views of current and expected stock, and extensive inventory management features.
- Waste Management - Sage 1000 provides support for EU Waste Management regulations, analysing packaging requirements based on historical transactions including despatches, recipts and imports. Across the EU two methodologies have been adopted - one for the UK and one for Germany. The majority of EU members are adopting the German approach and Sage 1000 has been designed to support both methods.
- Electronic Communication through EDI & XML - Sage 1000 includes connections to the most common EDI networks handling the various messaging standards and processing transactions to and from Sage 1000. In addition, an XML message schema has been created for the common Sales and Purchase Order Processing transactions, enabling the deployment of a complex rules-based system to process messages in and out of Sage 1000.

- Material Requirements Planning - provides a Direct Supply Response to meet customer demand. It may be driven from source demand elements e.g. sales orders, forecasts or works orders ensuring that all material requirements are supplied directly to meet consumer needs or by using the traditional Master Production Schedule to generate the best volume/mix per period. Whether the requirement is for a responsive, agile manufacturing company or for the batch engineering machine shop, the appropriate techniques are provided within Sage 1000.
- Production Scheduling - built around the market leading Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) solutions developed by Preactor International. The system helps you manage the simultaneous planning of material, capacity and other constraints, whilst responding rapidly to any changes. This powerful APS solution is tightly integrated with Sage 1000 as an out-of-the box solution that can be implemented quickly and cost-effectively.
- Graphical Planning - this module is also built around the market-leading Scheduling solutions developed by Preactor International. This is a sub-set of the Sage Production Scheduling system, providing single constraint graphical planning tools for businesses with simpler processes.
By managing either machinery or manpower as a constraint, Graphical Planning facilitates improvements in efficiency and allows you to view projected delivery dates and resource utilisation. This solution is tightly integrated with Sage 1000 as an out-of-the-box solution that can be implemented very quickly and cost effectively.
- Graphical Master Production Scheduling - also based on Preactor International's solution, Graphical MPS allows the creation of an optimised Master Production Schedule (MPS) using a graphical planning environment. This enables realistic, achievable production plans to be created against sales forecasts and target stock levels. Production is planned into capacity buckets of one week duration which may be set to finite or infinite capacity.
- Rough Cut Capacity Planning - provides a rapid view of the capability of a business to build products within specified customer service levels. It is possible to identify certain bottlenecks and highlight areas where resources are being under-utilised. This prioritisation, whether by capital plant or by labour, provides a high level, fast first cut view of the resources needed, enabling management to adjust efficiently to consumer demand.

- Stock management - Sage 1000 helps you to reduce inventory and manage stock in a cost-effective, controlled way, avoiding the risks of over-investing in expensive stock or leaving orders too late to satisfy your customers. - Job Costing - Sage 1000 provides you with an up-to-date picture of expenditure and revenue associated with specific projects. The analysis of expenses and revenues posted from Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Inventory Control functions are also supported.
- Project Ledger - Designed for project-based businesses, the Sage 1000 Project Ledger is a user-defined cost repository mechanism. It allows you to ‘slice and dice’ data from all angles, across any part of the organisation. Using the Project Ledger, projects may be closely followed throughout their life cycle. It is highly integrated to the General Ledger for consistent analysis of project-related data.

- Project Billing - supports project-related posting and invoicing. It enables you to define the services to customers along with the rules for when and what to bill. The module is fully integrated with the Project Ledger and Resource Ledger.
- Resource Ledger - Sage 1000 processes timesheets for your resources – human or otherwise. Timesheets may be quickly entered with automatic default values for locations, projects, sub-projects, charging rates, and status to minimise the data entry load.
By defining the expense, resource and project type, you have complete flexibility in reporting or enquiring by activity or productivity to analyse and assess where and to what effect expensive resources are being deployed.

- Ad hoc queries - Sage 1000 offers a 'Find' facility to easily locate information in the system. If required, users can build more complex enquiries using multiple criteria. Such enquiries can be saved for future reference.
- Reports - Sage 1000 provides a comprehensive range of standard reports ‘out of the box’. If more information and analysis is needed, powerful reporting tools are included to customise existing reports or create new reports from scratch.
